She is also a Graceful Envelope Contest Winner, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Washington Calligraphers Guild. She has also had numerous pieces of calligraphic art published in the Somerset Studio Magazine 2005-2008. Linda has several published works including cover art for a national medical journal. Since graduating in 1974 with a degree in art education she has always had a love for teaching and has instructed fine art in numerous schools and as an Artist in Residence, teaching special needs and high risk children. She has experience as an illustrator and graphic designer and has been a guest speaker at art events. She has also taught at Letters of Joy Conference, Seattle, Washington. Linda has been part of the IAMPETH teaching faculty for the 20 International Penmen Calligraphy Conventions. She also is a member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting, IAMPETH. Linda has been a member of the Spokane Watercolor Society since 1995 and past President of Scripts and Scribes Calligraphy Guild. She is also the calligrapher for the Idaho Independent Bank in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Designing chalk illustrations and lettering for several bistros and steak and seafood restaurants keeps her very busy too. She does commissioned watercolor portraits, calligraphy for wedding invitations, and private parties. Painting three life- sized animal sculptures which are now displayed in the City of Spokane for the Ronald McDonald House was a rewarding experience for Linda because it was an outreach with a heart-warming worth while cause. In addition, Authentic Models, an international company, has commissioned Linda for calligraphy in different languages, for several of their Christmas cards and for their certificates of authenticity. Often when asked how long a piece takes she responds, “Only an hour of time, plus over thirty years experience.”Ĭurrently, Linda is a commissioned artist working with The Papyrus Stores, formerly Marcel Schurman Design, creating designs for greeting cards and writing the text in calligraphy. It is the thick and thin strokes looping into flourishes which take on a form, looking ornate but yet simple in design. Ornate Pictorial Calligraphy done with the pointed pen is one of her favorite styles.
